AC Milan’s decision to use Samuel Chukwueze in a new position paid off as the Nigeria international helped the club start their Serie A campaign with a 2-1 win at Torino, Footynaija reports.
Chukwueze was named Man of the Match after an energetic display as a wing-back at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday.
The 26-year-old played a key role in the victory by setting up Adrien Rabiot for Milan’s second goal. His performance also offered new manager Ruben Amorim an encouraging sign that Chukwueze can be effective in a wider defensive role.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, Chukwueze said he was pleased with the result but was already thinking about the season ahead.
“Now we have to look forward, but I’m very satisfied,” Chukwueze said via Tuttomercatoweb.
The former Villarreal player also made it clear that he is ready to take on the physical demands of playing as a wing-back.
“I’m ready, I can’t wait, and I’ll do it all season,” he added.

Chukwueze’s role required him to cover a large area of the pitch while still offering an attacking threat. His assist for Rabiot showed that he can contribute in the final third despite starting from a deeper position.
Milan will now hope the Nigerian can keep up the same level as they target a strong Serie A campaign.
