Edo Queens began their WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign in style as the two-time Nigeria Women’s Football League champions thrashed Niger Republic queens AS Garde Nationale 7-0 in Ouagadougou on Monday night, Footynaija reports.
The Nigerian side controlled the match from the start at the Stade du 4 Août, with Chioma Moses leading the attack. Moses opened the scoring after only five minutes before adding a second from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time.
Edo Queens went into the break with a 2-0 lead, but they did not slow down after half-time.
Anastasia Doosuur scored twice in nine minutes to put the result beyond doubt. She made it 3-0 in the 47th minute before adding her second goal in the 56th minute.
Aminat Folorunsho then joined the scoring in the 62nd minute, giving Edo Queens a five-goal advantage.
Moses completed her hat-trick in the 76th minute to make it 6-0. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added the seventh goal in the third minute of added time to complete a heavy opening victory.
The result gives Edo Queens a strong start in Group B as they aim to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Edo Queens won their first NWFL Premiership title in 2024 before reclaiming the trophy in June 2026. They secured their second title after a 0-0 draw with Bayelsa Queens on the final day of the Super Six tournament in Port Harcourt.
The 2026 champions finished the Super Six with 10 points from five matches under coach Moses Aduku.
Their next test in Burkina Faso will be against Côte d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas on Thursday, 27 August. They will then face Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Sunday, 30 August.
Edo Queens will hope their seven-goal opening win can help them secure a place in the next stage of the competition.
