Trabzonspor are increasingly confident that Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu will remain at the club for now despite the growing transfer speculation surrounding the youngster, Footynaija.com reports.
Nwaiwu has attracted significant interest from European clubs this summer, with Premier League side Crystal Palace reportedly seeing a €30 million offer rejected by the Turkish club last week.
Trabzonspor’s position appears unchanged, with the club unwilling to consider Nwaiwu’s departure unless their valuation is met. However, fresh reports from within Turkey suggest the defender’s immediate future could now be clearer.

Speaking on Haber61, editor-in-chief Tuncay Lakot acknowledged that the constant transfer speculation could be affecting the 22-year-old, particularly with interest coming from clubs with greater financial power.
“The player may also be confused. When a foreign team at a higher financial level than Trabzonspor offers you money, you inevitably experience these ups and downs,” Lakot said.
However, Trabzonspor are hopeful that Nwaiwu can put the transfer talk behind him and concentrate on the new season.
Former Black Sea Storm coach Hamdi Zıvalıoglu believes the Nigeria international can refocus if he is properly prepared mentally, while suggesting that a departure is unlikely during the current window.
“He won’t leave now, he might leave in six months. If you can prepare his psychology and mentality, there is another transfer window in January,” Zıvalıoglu said.
“I don’t think he will leave at this point. Unless astronomical offers come in, he will stay with the team.”
These latest comments offer a fresh indication of Trabzonspor’s thinking after the club turned down Palace’s sizable proposal.
Rather than completely closing the door on a future transfer, the Turkish side appear prepared to keep Nwaiwu for the first half of the campaign before reassessing his situation in January.
For now, however, the Super Eagles defender remains firmly in Trabzonspor’s plans as they prepare for the new Super Lig season.
