Former Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie has urged Victor Osimhen to control his emotions after the Galatasaray forward was involved in another heated on-pitch altercation, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen was involved in a physical confrontation with Villarreal defender Santiago Mourino during Galatasaray’s 2-1 pre-season defeat at RAMS Park on Saturday, August 8 with both players receiving yellow cards after the incident.
The Nigeria international had earlier scored Galatasaray’s equaliser in the fifth minute, cancelling out Ayoze Perez’s early penalty, but the match was later overshadowed by his clash with Mourino.

Sharing his thoughts on the incident, Odemwingie admitted that he could understand why Osimhen reacted, but made it clear that he did not approve of the striker’s response.

“I don’t back this behavior because my first feeling was ‘Not again.’ I’ve seen quite a bit of it. It’s happening a bit more often than it should,” Odemwingie told Brila Media.
“Defenders are scared of him, so they will try to upset him and get under his skin.
“He needs to deal with this and be humble. If you ask Victor why he reacted that way, he might tell you that the player said something.”
The warning comes months after Osimhen’s involvement in another heated moment during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Galatasaray striker confronted teammate Ademola Lookman after becoming frustrated that the forward had chosen to shoot rather than pass to him. Lookman later played down the incident, describing Osimhen as his brother.
For Odemwingie, the latest confrontation is therefore less about questioning Osimhen’s passion and more about ensuring the striker does not allow opponents to use that passion against him.
With the new season approaching, the former Super Eagles star believes Osimhen must find the balance between maintaining his aggressive edge and keeping his emotions under control.
