Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze delivered a stunning performance in a new role as AC Milan came from behind to beat Manchester United 4-2 in their final pre-season game on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.
Chukwueze started the encounter as a right wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, a tactical switch from the Nigerian’s usual position further forward.
The change did little to hamper his attacking influence though, as he went on to produce a goal and two assists to help Milan complete an impressive comeback in Poland.

Manchester United took an early lead through Harry Maguire, but Chukwueze restored parity in the 37th minute when he finished Goncalo Ramos’ square pass inside the box.
Patrick Dorgu restored United’s advantage shortly after half-time, but Chukwueze then took charge of proceedings once more, setting up Alphadjo Cisse for Milan’s second in the 57th minute before delivering another dangerous ball into the box for Ramos to head home and complete the turnaround 11 minutes later.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek added Milan’s fourth in the 71st minute to seal a 4-2 victory over United.
Chukwueze’s display represents an encouraging sign as he continues to adapt to Amorim’s demands in his new position. The deeper role requires the 25-year-old to contribute defensively while still exploiting his pace and dribbling ability when Milan transition into attack.
With Milan’s pre-season schedule now complete, Chukwueze will hope his outstanding showing can translate into a prominent role when the Rossoneri begin their Serie A campaign away to Torino on August 23.
For the Super Eagles star, Saturday’s performance could prove an important step in establishing himself under Amorim.
