Manchester United have taken an early step towards a possible deal for Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen by asking Galatasaray about his situation, Footynaija reports.
The enquiry is not a bid, and there is no indication that a transfer is close. It is understood to be part of United’s search for more options in attack before the summer transfer window closes.
Arsenal-linked Osimhen, 27, had another strong season with Galatasaray. He scored 22 goals and made eight assists in 33 games as the club won the Turkish league. He also scored seven times in the Champions League.
The Nigerian would be a major financial commitment. Galatasaray paid Napoli €75m for him in July 2025 and gave him a contract until 2029. Reports say the Turkish club want about €150m for the striker.
Galatasaray have already rejected a reported €130m offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. Club president Dursun Ozbek has also said there is no release clause in Osimhen’s contract, which means any interested club must negotiate with Galatasaray.
United’s interest comes as they deal with an uncertain striker situation. Benjamin Sesko has been struggling with an injury and missed the final part of pre-season. Bryan Mbeumo could play through the middle if needed, while Marcus Rashford’s future is still unclear.
Michael Carrick’s team also lost 4-2 to AC Milan in their final pre-season game before Saturday’s trip to Hull City.
United finished third in the Premier League last season and will play in the Champions League. Osimhen’s pace, power and goals could give Carrick another option as the club prepares for a busy campaign.
For now, however, United have only asked the question. A formal offer would be the next major step.
