Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem could be set for a return to familiar territory after Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor reportedly opened talks over a summer move for the Nantes center-back, Footynaija.com reports.
Awaziem is expected to leave the French club following their relegation from Ligue 1, with the 29-year-old understood to be keen on remaining in top-flight football rather than playing in the second division next season.
According to Turkish outlet Spor Depor, Konyaspor have already initiated discussions with the Nigerian international as they explore the possibility of completing a deal before the transfer window closes.

The Anatolian club are looking to reinforce their defensive options ahead of the new campaign and have identified Awaziem as one of their priority targets. A move would also suit the versatile defender, who is no stranger to Turkish football after previously enjoying successful loan spells with Caykur Rizespor and Alanyaspor.
Across those two stints, Awaziem established himself as a reliable performer in the Super Lig, making 38 league appearances and contributing a goal while earning praise for his composure, aerial presence and ability to operate both at center-back and right-back.
Although Nantes endured a disappointing campaign that ended in relegation, Awaziem remained one of the club’s standout performers, registering one goal and two assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances. Reports in France have also suggested the Canaries are prepared to offload players this summer as they seek to ease financial pressure and reshape the squad for life in Ligue 2.
With Konyaspor pushing to bolster a defence that helped them reach the Turkish Cup final last season, the coming days could prove decisive as the club attempt to convince Awaziem to begin a third chapter in Turkish football.
