Transfer: Marseille set sights on potential move for Sevilla-based Super Eagles forward

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has downplayed the growing uncertainty surrounding his future at Sevilla amid speculated interest from Olympique de Marseille ahead of the summer transfer window, Footynaija.com reports.

Recent reports suggest that the Nigeria international is on Marseille’s radar as the Ligue 1 outfit look to their forward line ahead of a 2026/2027 campaign that could potentially involve European commitments.

Adams’s tally of 10 La Liga goals played a key role in helping Sevilla preserve their top flight status last season. Yet, the Andalusian side are reportedly open to listening to offers for his signature this summer.

Addressing the speculations in a recent interview, the former Montpellier striker dismissed the ongoing rumours, taking time to reiterate his commitment to and satisfaction with life at Sevilla.

“I have not heard anything about that, but this is the transfer window and there will always be many rumours,” he told Footy-Africa.

“It is not something that is important to me at the moment. I have a contract with Sevilla, and we have just come through a difficult season, so now is not really the time to focus on such things.

“It all depends on what happens, but I am happy at Sevilla. Rumours are part of football, but it is not something I am thinking about right now.”

Marseille are reportedly willing to offer €15 million plus bonuses that could take the overall package to €18 million. However, Sevilla want €25 million for the Nigerian striker and will likely be unwilling to negotiate for anything less.

Adams is currently away on international duty with the Super Eagles as they prepare for a blockbuster friendly encounter against World Cup bound Portugal at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria. Both sides will clash on Wednesday, June 10.
