Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez has sent a message of apology to Rangers fans following yet another failure to deliver the Scottish Premiership title to Ibrox, Footynaija.com reports.
Rangers crashed out of the title conversation after last weekend’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to bitter rivals Celtic in the Old Firm derby turned out to be their third consecutive loss in the championship group.
The Glasgow giants will now go another year without Scottish football’s biggest prize, with their most recent league triumph coming as far back as five years ago in the 2020/2021 season.

“First and foremost, I apologise to the fans. We know that we should have done better in the last three games. We feel sorry for the fans,” Fernandez told the Daily Record.
“I couldn’t pinpoint an issue, but I just feel like maybe we needed to have a bit more fight. I can’t say we have been unlucky, I can take stick for it because there are certain moments I probably should have defended better.
“There is nothing I can say about my teammates. I will probably just look at myself, if anything. But now we have to pick ourselves up. There are two games to go, and we have to win these two games for the fans.
” I feel like there are still a lot of strong players here, young players, who are going to be in their second season. They can show they are really worth it and are going to fight. When next season comes, we’ll have a good side.”
Hearts currently top the Scottish Premiership standings with 77 points while reigning champions Celtic remain in the picture with 76 points and two games left to play.
For Rangers, the focus will now be on returning to winning ways and finishing the season strongly. Fernandez and company welcome Hibernian to the Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night and they’ll be desperate to secure maximum points.
