Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu is excited to be back in contention for Slavia Prague in the Czech 1. Liga after recently returning from a brief spell on the sidelines, Footynaija.com reports.
Ogbu picked up an injury and had to be substituted during Slavia Prague’s 4-1 defeat to Pafos in the final round of the UEFA Champions League league phase back in January.
As a result, he missed four league matches for the Czech champions and only recently returned to the matchday squad as an unused substitute in Slavia’s 2-1 victory over Duhkla Prague last weekend.
Reflecting on the setback in a recent interview, Ogbu conceded that injuries were inevitable in the game of football and he was just delighted to be fit again.
What Igoh Ogbu said

“Sometimes when it comes to injuries, it is something you cannot stop. You can only focus on prevention, but for me, I am happy to be back,” the Super Eagles defender told Footy-Africa.
“Injury is not a place any player wants to be. For me, it is a thing of joy to rejoin the team, to be playing football again with the boys and to feel the moment of football again.”
Slavia Prague have been in a good place despite Ogbu’s absence, with a record of three wins and one draw in the Czech 1. Liga. The Nigeria international is now looking forward to staying fit and contributing significantly as they chase the league title.

“It makes me happy to come back to the team. They have been doing very well while I was away and I am proud of them. Joining them again is good, and now I have to work hard to help the team win things together.
“Coming back, I want to do my best, help the team in every way I can, continue to grow, and deliver for our fans so that at the end of the day we lift the trophy. That is what I stand for.”
Slavia Prague lead the way in the Czech top flight, with a seven point cushion over nearest rivals Sparta Prague who they face in their next league outing. Ogbu will be in contention for a starting shirt in that game.
