Former Super Eagles goalkeeper coach Ike Shorunmu has issued his verdict on Stanley Nwabali’s exit from South African club Chippa United, backing the Nigeria international to shine wherever he moves next, Footynaija.com reports.
Nwabali recently ended his four-year association with Chippa United after both parties agreed to a mutual termination of his contract, bringing an end to his stint with the Chilli Boys.
The goalkeeper joined the club in 2022 from Katsina United and went on to establish himself as one of the standout performers in the South African top flight.

Reacting to the development, Shorunmu described the decision as a positive step for the Super Eagles number one, insisting the timing of the move is right.
The former Nigeria international expressed confidence that Nwabali’s quality will see him succeed at his next club, while also urging his agent to secure a deal that will allow the shot-stopper to continue improving and showcasing his ability.
“It is a good one for himself, the agent is going to make another deal. If he feels this is the right time for him to leave the club, then I will support him,” Shorunmu said, per Footy-Africa.
“About the deal, it is good for him and I hope he ends up somewhere he can shine and show what he can do.
“Whichever place he goes, I am sure he will shine and do well, but it depends on him. He has served Chippa United well, and if he feels the time is right for him to move, then that is cool.
“I hope the agent he is working with can get him a good deal because he is a good goalkeeper and our number one. He is a good goalkeeper who can keep getting better, as we have seen.”
With Nwabali now a free agent, clubs from outside South Africa, including sides from North and East Africa will be on high alert. The Super Eagles goalie will now be looking to settle his next destination so he can return to action as soon as possible.
