Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk has hinted at the potential participation of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in the Lions’ upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen is fresh off the back of a long and demanding Africa Cup of Nations where he helped the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a third-place finish and personally enjoyed an outstanding tournament.
Despite this, it appears the 27-year-old striker will return straight back into the mix for Galatasaray as the Super Lig champions prepare to host Diego Simeone’s men at RAMS Park on Wednesday.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Buruk revealed that Osimhen had a good training session after joining up with the rest of the squad on Monday. The Gala boss also provided updates on some other members of his squad.
Okan Buruk’s update

“Victor Osimhen joined the squad yesterday and participated in training,” Buruk revealed, as per quotes from Haberler.com.
“Jakobs will be here early in the morning and will be in the match squad. Sara will train with the team today and will test himself. Our plan is to include him in the squad as well. Singo will not be with us.”

While Buruk did not expressly confirm whether or not Osimhen will feature in the upcoming game against Atletico Madrid, it’s difficult to see the Turkish tactician leaving the Nigerian striker out. Especially if there are no fitness concerns for the player.
Heading into Wednesday’s clash, Galatasaray sit 18th on the league phase standings with nine points from six matches and they will be looking for their first ever win against Atleti after failing to beat the Spanish club in six previous attempts (0 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats).
Victory at RAMS Park will not end their poor run against Wednesday’s opponents, but also significantly increase their chances of securing automatic qualification into the round of 16.
