The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its official team of the tournament for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, bringing the curtain down on a competition that ended with Senegal’s dramatic final victory over hosts Morocco, footynaija.com reports.
The Best XI features a blend of tournament winners, standout individuals and familiar stars, with Nigeria represented by three players: Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
However, there was no place for Alex Iwobi, whose creative influence for the bronze-medal-winning Super Eagles went unrewarded despite a strong campaign.
Senegal’s success is reflected with four players in the selection, same as runners-up Morocco.

Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou is chosen after a remarkable tournament in which he kept a string of clean sheets and played a decisive role in penalty shoot-outs.
In defence, Achraf Hakimi, Moussa Niakhaté, Calvin Bassey and Noussair Mazraoui form the back line. The midfield is anchored by the evergreen Idrissa Gueye, who played every minute for the champions, alongside the tireless Pape Gueye, who scored Senegal’s winning goal in the final.
Further forward, Lookman’s place is secured after finishing the tournament with the highest combined tally of goals and assists, continuing his strong relationship with the AFCON stage.
Sadio Mane, named Player of the Tournament, is also included after leading Senegal with authority, while Osimhen earns his spot after scoring four goals before injury curtailed his campaign.
Brahim Diaz completes the line-up, having finished as the competition’s top scorer with five goals, despite a late blemish in the final.
