Scottish giants Celtic have missed out on the potential signing of Terem Moffi amid reports that the Super Eagles striker prefers a move elsewhere, Footynaija.com reports.

Moffi has been pushing for an exit from Nice all winter after suffering verbal and physical abuse from fans of the club last year and the Nigerian’s situation has alerted a number of willing suitors, who are looking to acquire his services.

FC Porto and Besiktas are two sides that have been credited with interest in signing Moffi from Nice. Porto are looking to reunite the Super Eagles striker with former Nice boss who is now in charge at Estadio do Dragao, Francesco Farioli.

Meanwhile, Besiktas, in need of striking reinforcements after selling Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa and the Black Eagles identified Moffi as a potential replacement for the former Chelsea and AC Milan striker.

According to recent reports, Celtic also weighed up the possibility of signing the Nigeria international to add more depth to their attack as they look to reclaim top spot in the Scottish Premiership.

However, Moffi swiftly rejected the advances of the Scottish champions as well as those from Besiktas in favour of making a switch to Liga Portugal giants FC Porto.

As things stand though, Porto remain favourites to secure Moffi’s signature, mainly due to the already pre-existing relationship between the Super Eagles striker and Porto boss Farioli.

Porto and Nice have settled on a loan arrangement that includes a non-compulsory option to buy, reportedly in the region of €8m. Moffi is due to travel to Portugal to undergo a medical and complete the move.
