Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled a large provisional squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Footynaija.com reports.
The list, released on Tuesday through the team’s official channels, includes six goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 12 midfielders and 23 attackers as Chelle widens competition ahead of his final selection.
Regular goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye and Amas Obasogie return, joined by Francis Uzoho, Adebayo Adeleye and teenage prospect Ebenezer Harcourt.
The defence brought a few surprises after previously-ruled-out full-backs Felix Agu and Ola Aina were included despite injury concerns.
Trusted figures William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi retain their places, while newcomers Ryan Alebiosu, Adeleke Adekunle and Emmanuel Michael also feature.
In midfield, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika form the core, supported by Tom and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and first-time selections Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Tochukwu Nnadi and Peter Agba.
Nigeria’s attack remains the strongest department, led by African Footballer of the Year winners Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. They are joined by Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Tolu Arokodare and returning forwards Paul Onuachu, Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho. Emerging talents Philip Otele, Salim Fago, Ikwuemesi Chukwubuikem and Rafiu Durosinmi complete the line-up.
Chelle must trim the squad to 28 players. AFCON begins on 21 December, with Nigeria facing Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania in Group D as they chase a first title since 2013.
