Ademola Lookman has led the latest arrivals at the Super Eagles’ camp in Cairo as Nigeria step up preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
The Atalanta forward arrived less than 24 hours after head coach Eric Chelle and his assistants opened camp in Egypt, taking the number of players present to 11. Lookman comes off the back of a 2–1 league win over Cagliari, a timely boost as Nigeria begin their final build-up.
Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi has also reported after the Nigeria Football Federation rejected a request for him to remain with his club for a domestic cup tie. Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru joined camp following his side’s victory over Parma, arriving alongside first-time invitee Ebenezer Akinsanmiro of Pisa.
All three goalkeepers – Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Tanzania-based Amas Obasogie – are already in camp, while debutants Tochukwu Nnadi and Slavia Prague defender Igho Ogbu have also checked in. Bright Osayi-Samuel and Semi Ajayi further strengthened the defensive ranks.
Twelve more players, including Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi and Paul Onuachu, are expected on Monday, with the remaining arrivals due Tuesday.
Nigeria will hold their first training session at the Cairo International Stadium ahead of a friendly against Egypt, as Chelle looks to build on the Super Eagles’ run to the final at the last AFCON.
