AC Milan have entered the race to sign Nigerian teenage sensation Sani Suleiman, who is also on the radars of Chelsea, Tottenham and several top European clubs, Footynaija.com reports.
The 19-year-old winger has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year, starring for AS Trenčín in Slovakia and impressing at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where his composure, creativity and attacking intelligence caught the eyes of scouts from Europe’s biggest leagues.
Interest in Suleiman intensified following a new CIES Football Observatory report that ranked him the most creative U-21 player in world football based on penetrative passes in the final third. His average of 2.52 such passes per 90 minutes placed him ahead of peers from France, Spain, Costa Rica and Switzerland.
Chelsea, Tottenham, Brentford, Ajax, Rangers, PSV, Bayer Leverkusen, PSG and Royal Antwerp have all monitored him this season, while Middlesbrough have already contacted Trenčín to explore a January transfer. Italian giants Milan have now joined the race for Suleiman, according to TEAMtalk.
According to Transfermarkt, Sani Suleiman is presently valued at €800,000 (approx. ₦1.354 billion), a financial hurdle many top European clubs will find little trouble to overcome.
Trenčín hold a two-year extension option on Suleiman’s contract, which runs until 2026, but the level of interest has prompted the club to consider cashing in. Suleiman’s representatives are prioritising a club that can offer a clear development pathway, with Milan believed to view him as a long-term project capable of breaking into the first team quickly.
After leaving Akwa United last year, where he won the NPFL Rookie of the Season, Suleiman could be set for the biggest move of his career thus far.
