Caykur Rizespor boss wary of Paul Onuachu threat ahead of Super Lig clash vs Trabzonspor

Caykur Rizespor head coach Recep Ucar has admitted that Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu could potentially be a handful for his defenders ahead of this weekend’s trip to Trabzonspor, Footynaija.com reports.

Onuachu is enjoying scintillating goal-scoring form this season, with the towering Nigeria international registering an utterly impressive tally of 21 goals in 22 Super Lig appearances so far.

This puts him ahead of compatriot Victor Osimhen as the most prolific striker in the Turkish league currently and keeps him firmly on top of the Super Lig top scorers’ chart.

Speaking about the prospect of facing the in-form hitman, Ucar did not shy away from acknowledging the potential danger that Onuachu poses.

“He is one of the tallest strikers in the league and is particularly effective with high balls in the penalty area,” the Caykur Rizespor boss told Haber 61 in a recent interview.

“Stopping him won’t be easy, but we will do our best together with our defenders. However, Trabzonspor is not just Onuachu; it is a team with many high-quality players.

“They are currently in third place and are 3 points behind second-placed Fenerbahçe. Despite having a new squad, they have done very well. They also play effectively at home.

“A tough match awaits us, that’s clear. We want to play our own game and continue the rhythm and momentum we have gained.”

Onuachu’s impressive form has seen him score in each of his last eight outings across all competitions for Trabzonspor. The Super Eagles striker will be looking to extend that streak when Caykur Rizespor rock up to Papara Park.
