Ademola Lookman’s future at Atalanta has taken an unexpected turn after weeks of strong speculation linking him with a January move to Galatasaray, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian forward was previously open to leaving Bergamo, with reports suggesting he was frustrated under former manager Ivan Jurić and intrigued by the opportunity to join international teammate Victor Osimhen in Istanbul.
Galatasaray reportedly led the race, offering the 28-year-old a lucrative €9 million annual salary, while Fenerbahçe, Atlético Madrid, and Tottenham monitored his situation closely.
However, Atalanta’s managerial change has dramatically shifted the narrative.
The appointment of Raffaele Palladino during the international break has had an immediate impact on Lookman’s stance. Palladino has restored confidence in the forward, rebuilt a positive relationship and made clear that Lookman is central to his plans. As a result, Lookman’s playing time and performances are expected to improve, prompting him to reconsider leaving.
Italian journalist Alessandro Giovanni Pagliarini reports that Lookman has now ‘re-aligned’ with Atalanta, and that no active or advanced negotiations with Galatasaray are currently taking place.

Atalanta reinforced this by highlighting one of Lookman’s recent goals against Napoli on their social media channels.
Although Galatasaray remain interested and could return in January, Lookman is increasingly expected to stay at Atalanta until the end of the season.
