Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has called on his Fulham teammates to find some level of consistency after their narrow 1-0 victory over high-flying newcomers Sunderland on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.

The Cottagers put up a dominant display in front of their home supporters and were duly rewarded with a late Raul Jimenez strike to record only their second win in seven Premier League matches.

They registered 24 shots on goal and controlled large periods of the games. Speaking after the win, Iwobi, who featured for 89 minutes, was delighted to see their patience and persistence rewarded.

“Our home form has been really good,” he said in quotes revealed by Fulham correspondent Jack Kelly.

“They’re a tough side and they’ve been doing really well, but we have the belief that we can perform against anyone.

“We created so many chances today. It was almost one of those where you wonder if it will ever go on. Credit to the lads, we kept on believing and thank god one of them went in.

“We don’t fear anyone in the league. We give our respect to Sunderland. But now it’s all about consistency for us to go and get the results we need.

“In the week, we were working on different ways to break down Sunderland. It was working, but we couldn’t put the ball in the net. As long as we can keep clean sheets, then we’ll always create chances to score.”

With that win, Fulham have now put a three-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone. They have 14 points from 12 games and truly need to find some form consistency if they are to climb higher up the standings.
