It was another exciting weekend for Nigerian footballers plying their trade abroad, as several Super Eagles stars delivered impressive performances for their respective clubs across Europe on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.
Moses Simon continued his fine form in France, striking the decisive goal that earned Ligue 1 newcomers Paris FC a stunning 1–0 away victory over AS Monaco. The Super Eagles winger was lively throughout the contest, capping off a solid display with a composed finish that sealed all three points.
In England, Semi Ajayi came off the bench to help Hull City keep a clean sheet in their impressive 2–0 win away at Norwich City. The centre-back’s aerial dominance and calmness under pressure were key to the Tigers’ fourth win in five EFL Championship games.
Over in London, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze all played significant roles as Fulham cruised to a commanding 3–0 home victory over Wolves, led by fellow Nigerian Tolu Arokodare. Iwobi was particularly brilliant, pulling the strings in midfield to ensure Fulham put an end to their four game losing streak.
Taiwo Awoniyi made a strong impression after coming off the bench for Nottingham Forest in their thrilling 2–2 Premier League draw with Manchester United. The striker’s energy and hold-up play were instrumental as Forest battled to earn a valuable point at The City Ground.
In Germany, Victor Boniface retained his starting place for Werder Bremen and worked tirelessly up front in their hard-fought 1–1 Bundesliga draw away to Mainz 05.
Meanwhile, in Turkey, Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu faced off in a high-profile clash as Galatasaray and Trabzonspor settled for a goalless draw in Istanbul. Both Nigerian strikers had moments of danger but ultimately couldn’t continue their scoring streaks in what was a tightly contested encounter.
Elsewhere, there was joy for Anthony Dennis, who stood out in midfield for Gotzepe during their 1–0 home win over Genclerbirligi in the Turkish Super Lig. As Gotzepe fans have become accustomed to watching, Dennis showed maturity beyond his years with an assured and composed performance.
In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika made his long-awaited return from injury, helping Club Brugge secure a 2–1 win over FCV Dender EH. It was a welcome comeback for the midfielder, who provided balance and composure in the middle of the park. Young defender Benjamin Fredrick also featured prominently, playing every minute for the visitors.
