Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, edging Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to the continent’s most prestigious individual prize, Footynaija.com reports.
The PSG full-back received the award on Wednesday night at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat.
Hakimi’s win followed a season of exceptional impact for both club and country.

At PSG, he delivered nine goals and 12 assists across competitions, helping the French giants complete a historic treble that included the UEFA Champions League. He also captained Morocco through a flawless World Cup qualifying campaign, winning all eight games to secure a direct ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
For Osimhen, the night brought disappointment despite another remarkable year. The Galatasaray forward scored 37 goals and added seven assists in a title-winning season in Turkey, and has already struck nine times this term; six of them in the Champions League. His form, however, was not enough to secure a second CAF crown after his 2023 triumph.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak won the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award ahead of Super Falcons skipper Rasheedat Ajibade. Ajibade had been tipped as favourites to win the trophy after helping Nigeria win the WAFCON earlier this year.

However, the PSG star was snubbed as Chebbak becomes the first Moroccan to win the prestigious individual honour.
While Osimhen and Ajibade missed out on individual titles, Nigeria still left Rabat with major honours.
Chiamaka Nnadozie won a third straight CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, capping her rapid rise after a standout year with Paris FC, a WAFCON title with Nigeria, and an impressive start at Brighton.

The Super Falcons were also named the 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year after claiming a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown. Their triumph included a dramatic comeback in the final, overturning a 2–0 deficit to beat hosts Morocco 3–2 in Rabat.
