Super Eagles and Brentford youngster Benjamin Frederick has reportedly played himself onto the radar of Red Bull’s Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, Footynaija.com understands.
The 20-year-old center-back has been a revelation for the Nigeria national team after making his Super Eagles debut at the Unity Cup which took place at Brentford’s G-tech Community Stadium back in May.
Since then, he featured in every minute of Nigeria’s last four World Cup qualification games, displaying maturity beyond his years and helping the Super Eagles secure a play-offs spot against all odds.

Frederick’s impressive performances appear to have now caught the eyes of Leipzig as Africa Foot reports that the Bundesliga side are keen on acquiring the talents of the Kaduna-bred defender.
According to the report, RB Leipzig’s sporting director recently reached out to Brentford’s management to discuss the 20-year-old right-back, who is currently on loan at FCV Dender EH in the Jupiler Pro League.
The German side is said to have tabled a €1.5 million bid to sign the player once his loan spell ends, with a proposed 15% sell-on clause that would see Brentford benefit from any future transfer.

A potential move to Leipzig could be tempting for young Frederick as the Bundesliga side are capable of offering continental competition and have also proven to be one of Europe’s best launch pads to bigger clubs.
The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Dayot Upamercano and most recently Benjamin Sesko are examples of players that have passed through the Red Bull club and earned moves to bigger European teams.

Whether Brentford are open to cutting ties with Frederick, who they poached from the NPFL following his impressive outing at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, remains uncertain.
