Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi are set for a second managerial change this season after Nottingham Forest cut ties with head coach Ange Postecoglou following the Australian’s disappointing 40-day spell in charge at The City Ground, Footynaija.com reports.
Postecoglou went winless in his eight games at the helm of Forest, managing only two draws and suffering six defeats in all competitions. Under his reign, the Tricky Trees earned just one point from five Premier League outings, leaving them languishing in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone.
Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea proved to be the final straw as Nottingham Forest’s hierarchy delivered news of the former Tottenham Hotspur manager’s sack just 20 minutes after the end of that game at The City Ground.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” a Forest statement read.
“The club will make no further comment at this time.”

During Postecoglou’s short reign at Forest, Super Eagles stars Aina and Awoniyi didn’t get much playing time. While Aina is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on his torn hamstring last month, Awoniyi has just unfortunately found himself behind in the pecking order of strikers at the club.
In fact, his only appearance so far this season came in this recent defeat to Chelsea with Postecoglou handing the Nigerian striker a surprise start. Awoniyi was unable to repay his gaffer’s faith though, and the Australian tactician consequently hacked him off at half time.
Nottingham Forest’s decision to sack Postecoglu means the former Tottenham Hotspur boss’ stint at The City Ground is the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League history.
