Nigeria head coach Finidi George has announced a strong starting line-up for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against Lesotho on Friday, Footynaija.com reports.
The three-time African champions are set up in a 4-4-2 formation, with in-form goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali retaining his place between the posts.
Fulham’s Calvin Bassey partners captain William Troost-Ekong at centre-back, while Benjamin Fredrick and Bruno Onyemaechi take up the right and left-back positions respectively.
In midfield, Besiktas star Wilfred Ndidi anchors the base alongside Alex Iwobi, who will look to dictate play and link attack with defence. The wings will be manned by Moses Simon and Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, both expected to provide width and pace in transition.
Up front, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen leads the line, joined by Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare in a two-man attack designed to unsettle the Lesotho defence.
The Super Eagles are clear favourites heading into the encounter, but Chelle’s side will be wary of avoiding any early slip-ups in Polokwane. Victory against the Crocodiles would set up tantalising end to the qualifying campaign for 2026 World Cup next week.
