In Turkey’s Trendyol Super League, two Nigerian strikers have become the faces of contrasting football philosophies; one built on financial muscle, the other on calculated value.

And as the goals tally mounts, the question now being whispered in Istanbul and Trabzon alike is simple: has Paul Onuachu turned out to be the smarter business deal than Victor Osimhen?

Onuachu has been unstoppable for Trabzonspor, scoring seven goals in nine league games — five of them in his last four appearances.

His strikes have directly contributed to 14 of the club’s 20 points this season, making him arguably the league’s most decisive player so far.

Meanwhile, Osimhen, the marquee man of Galatasaray’s summer revolution, has scored only twice in six outings.

The contrast extends far beyond the pitch.

Galatasaray splashed a staggering €75 million to bring Osimhen from Napoli, committing €159 million in total over four years — a package that includes €15 million in annual wages, €1 million in loyalty bonuses, and €5 million in image rights.

Trabzonspor, in comparison, paid just €5.67 million to Southampton for Onuachu, who earns a modest €2 million a year.

The difference in financial outlay, an extraordinary €145 million, paints a story of two clubs operating on entirely different planets. Yet, as the league table stands, the cheaper option is proving the more rewarding.

In football, numbers don’t lie and right now, Paul Onuachu’s goals are doing all the talking.
