Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has backed his team to go all out for the win in their upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 clash against Argentina, Footynaija.com reports.
The Flying Eagles basically sneaked into the knockout rounds with their group stage record of 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat just enough to see them through as one of the best third-place teams.
Now in the knockouts, Zubairu’s boys are set to face Argentina in a repeat of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 clash which Nigeria won 2-0 despite Argentina being the host nation.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s clash, Zubairu is confident this fresh crop of Flying Eagles players also possess what it takes to handle the Argentines once again.

“We have seen Argentina, we have seen their strengths, and we will try to neutralise them,” the Flying Eagles boss said in an interview with Footy-Africa.
“We have been able to pick out their deficiencies, and we are going to work on that. On Wednesday, we’ll take advantage of what we’ve observed and, hopefully, we win the game.
“I remember the last scenario, it happened in the last U-20 World Cup which they even hosted. They came out with nine points, we came second in our group, but we still beat them. We are going to do the same thing again.”

The Flying Eagles will take on Argentina at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos in Santiago, Chile. Kick off is slated for 8.30 PM Nigerian time and the winner of this clash will secure a place in the quarterfinals.
This helped clarify a lot of questions I had.
Great article! I’ll definitely come back for more posts like this.
