Former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh has described Victor Osimhen as the country’s standout footballer and tipped him to make a blockbuster move to the Premier League soon, Footynaija.com reports.
The former Juventus and Borussia Dortmund midfielder was full of praise for the Galatasaray striker following his spectacular hat-trick against Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Osimhen’s three goals inspired a 4–0 triumph in Uyo, reaffirming his status as the Super Eagles’ talisman.
Speaking on The Sunday Oliseh Podcast, the former Nigeria coach said:
“When it comes to Osimhen, I think four more games. If Osimhen plays the next three or four games like he did against Benin, I can assure you that in the next one or two years, he’ll be heading to the Premier League. And they will buy him for crazy money.”
Oliseh, who represented Nigeria at two World Cups, believes Osimhen’s energy, leadership, and tenacity make him the perfect modern forward.
“He is the best player we have at the moment, even though Lookman is rated a bit above him because he’s the current African Player of the Year,” he said.
“But when you’re talking about quality and what a player brings to the game, he’s the best. The way he played this weekend showed his hunger and fight; this is the kind of match that suits him.”
Nigeria won four of the five matches Osimhen featured in during the World Cup qualifiers while the Super Eagles managed only three points from the first four games which the former Napoli man missed.
