Stanley Nwabali has reported to Super Eagles camp in Uyo, giving Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying push a timely lift, Footynaija.com reports.
The Chippa United goalkeeper, outstanding at the last Africa Cup of Nations, joined the squad on Tuesday evening after their opening training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. His presence raises the number of players in camp to 16, with more arrivals expected in the coming hours.
Nwabali’s arrival steadies a goalkeeping department that has come under scrutiny in recent days. He is set to compete with Adebayo Adeleye and Amas Obasogie for a starting spot in two crucial fixtures against Rwanda and South Africa.
Tuesday’s session was largely tactical, with head coach Eric Chelle drilling shape and transitions before ramping up intensity ahead of Wednesday’s workout.
The group in camp already includes Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chidozie Awaziem, Felix Agu, Bruno Onyemaechi, William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Fredericks, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Nwabali ! Nwabali !! Nwabali !!! After Osimhen’s 5 star performance, another hero is born! What composure, belief in God and a reassuring Smile by our Naija goalkeeper to send us to the AFCON Final. Now i can face my FIFA colleagues with a smile .. lol pic.twitter.com/RqW48Yif4s

Nigeria enter this international window under real pressure. The Super Eagles sit fourth in Group C with seven points from six matches. South Africa top with 13, Rwanda and Benin follow on eight, while Lesotho and Zimbabwe trail with six and four.
The Eagles face Rwanda in Uyo before travelling to Bloemfontein to meet South Africa. With qualification for the 2026 World Cup hanging in the balance, Chelle knows anything less than six points could leave Nigeria on the brink.
