NPFL: Stanley Eguma “proud’ after Enyimba’s hard-fought victory over Niger Tornadoes

Enyimba technical adviser Stanley Eguma expressed delight in his side’s performance following matchday two’s narrow 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday, Footynaija.com reports.

Eguma’s Aba Warriors went into Sunday’s game seeking their first win of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League season, having slipped to a disappointing 0-0 draw against newly promoted Barau FC on matchday one.

They got the game off to a fantastic start thanks to Joseph Abiodun’s 5th minute header to edge in front of Tornadoes and give the Aba fans something to cheer early on. Enyimba went on to create a good number of opportunities to widen the scoreline but Abiodun’s early goal proved to be the decider.

Sharing his thoughts at the end of the game, Eguma praised his players for their commitment to securing the result and promised Enyimba fans even better spectacles as the season progresses.

“The boys showed character today, and I am proud of their bravery,” Eguma remarked in quotes revealed on the club’s official website.

“Some of them, especially those making their first outing, were naturally a bit jittery, but they gave everything. With more games, they will certainly grow in confidence and deliver even better performances.

“We created so many scoring opportunities but didn’t take them. That’s one area we must improve on. The important thing, however, is that we secured all three points. This win is for our fans who turned out massively. We promise them more exciting results as the season unfolds.”

Enyimba will be looking to create a winning momentum when they welcome Nassarawa United to Aba on matchday three of the Nigeria Professional Football League. The Solid Miners will arrive at the Enyimba International Stadium with plenty of confidence after grinding out a 1-0 victory of their own against Abia Warriors.
