Nigeria’s Chidera Ejuke has picked up a fresh injury just days before Sevilla kick off their 2025–26 La Liga campaign, adding to the club’s growing list of fitness concerns, Footynaija.com reports.

The 27-year-old Super Eagles forward sustained a myofascial injury to the right adductor longus during a recent training session at Sevilla’s base. Initial assessments by the club’s medical team ruled him out of their final pre-season match against Marseille, with his condition still being monitored ahead of their league opener.

Ejuke’s injury comes at a difficult time for Sevilla, whose squad has been plagued by a string of muscle-related injuries in recent weeks.

This is not the first time the former CSKA Moscow man has suffered a muscular setback at the club. During the 2024–25 season, Ejuke missed nearly three months of action after sustaining a high-grade hamstring tear in his left leg last October. At the time of that injury, he was among La Liga’s most effective dribblers and one of Sevilla’s brightest attacking options.

His return to the side in January 2025 was seen as a major boost. He featured in 25 league matches across the season, scoring twice, and famously delivered a match-winner against Real Sociedad. However, consistency proved elusive as he competed with new signing Rubén Vargas for a spot in the starting eleven.

As reported by Marca, the current injury may be linked to Ejuke’s off-season activities in Nigeria, where he took part in informal matches on unregulated pitches. Sevilla’s coaching staff are said to be concerned about the winger’s fitness management and off-the-pitch decisions, which they fear may have contributed to the recurrence of muscular issues.
