Akor Adams and Alex Iwobi gave their struggling clubs the results they desperately needed on Saturday, with the Super Eagles forwards scoring the only goals as Venezia beat Napoli 1-0 in Serie A and Fulham defeated Hull City by the same score in the Premier League, Footynaija.com reports.
For Adams, the goal brought relief to a Venezia side that had endured a miserable opening to the campaign. The Italian club had lost its first six league matches and dismissed coach Giovanni Stroppa before Saturday’s meeting with Napoli.
New manager Davide Nicola could hardly have asked for a better start. Adams struck four minutes into the second half, finishing after Simon Sohm played him through. His effort proved decisive as Venezia secured their first league victory of the season.
Napoli had opportunities to rescue a result, but Venezia goalkeeper Filip Stankovic kept them out and saved a second-half penalty from Kevin De Bruyne. The win gave Nicola three points on his first appearance in charge and ended Venezia’s run of league defeats.
Iwobi gives Fulham a much-needed breakthrough

In England, Iwobi delivered a similarly important result for Fulham, who entered their home meeting with Hull without a Premier League win after six matches.
The Nigerian midfielder broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute at Craven Cottage, finishing from the edge of the penalty area after Hull failed to clear their lines and Sander Berge set him up.
The goal gave a precious lead for Fulham, who had struggled to turn promising performances into victories. Their previous league outing ended in a painful 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town after they conceded twice late in the game, having led through Ryan Sessegnon.
This time, Fulham held on. They beat Hull 1-0 to record their first league victory of the campaign and move off the bottom of the table, giving manager Álvaro Arbeloa some relief after reports that his job was under threat.
For Iwobi, the goal also ended a wait for his first league goal of the season after he had created chances without scoring or assisting in Fulham’s opening matches.
Adams and Iwobi now have decisive contributions to their names at a time when their clubs needed results. Venezia needed a fresh start under a new manager, while Fulham needed to turn their early-season struggles into points.
Both Nigerians supplied the goals, and both clubs finally had a league win to celebrate.
