KRC Genk head coach Thorsten Fink has provided an update on the future of Super Eagles striker Toluwalase Arokodare, amid unending speculations of a looming summer exit, Footynaija.com reports.
Arokodare took the Jupiler Pro League by storm in the 2024/2025 season, scoring with a pleasing consistency that saw him finish the campaign as the league’s top scorer. He also won the Ebony Shoe award, given to the best player of African origin in the Belgian top flight.
Following a season of outstanding personal achievement, the towering Nigeria international striker was understandably linked with a big move to one of Europe’s top five leagues, with a host of top clubs touted as potential destinations.

Despite a flurry of speculations and links to clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and a host of Premier League clubs, Arokodare remains on the roster of Genk whose opening match of the Belgian First Division ended in defeat to Club Brugge.
Speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s second league game of the new season, Fink provided an update on Arokodare’s situation, revealing that while the Nigerian still remains at Genk, a transfer could yet be on the cards.
“This is a difficult time for coaches and players, who are still hoping to make a good transfer,” Fink was quoted as saying by Het Belang van Limburg.
“But someone like Tolu remains available in the meantime. We’re just not going to do anything crazy if a transfer is in the offing. (Smiles) If he’s on the match sheet, you can assume there’s nothing planned.”
So far, Arokodare has been afforded less than 35 minutes of action in Genk’s first two games of the season, perhaps a signal that Fink is already preparing for life without his most lethal goal-scoring weapon.
