Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a make-or-break 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash on Tuesday, 9 September, at the iconic Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Footynaija.com reports.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time (4pm GMT), as confirmed by FIFA’s Head of Qualifiers and International Matches, Gordon Savic.

The match could prove pivotal in the race to top Group C, with only the group winner securing an automatic ticket to the World Cup finals in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The 46,000-seater stadium, once known as Vodacom Park and later Free State Stadium, was one of the venues for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and remains one of South Africa’s most prestigious grounds.

Nigeria, managed by Eric Chelle, have managed just one win so far in the qualification campaign, and with pressure mounting, their double-header this September is of critical importance. They will first host Rwanda’s Amavubi in Uyo on Saturday, 6 September, before flying to Bloemfontein for the encounter against South Africa.

Bafana Bafana, under Hugo Broos, have also emerged as serious contenders in the group and will be eyeing revenge following their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final loss to the Nigerians earlier last year.

For both nations, the path to North America 2026 could be defined under the bright lights of Toyota Stadium.
