Why Super Eagles’ Ademola Lookman could be a smart addition for Napoli this summer – Fedele
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Napoli has been urged to conduct shrewd transfer business this summer as the reigning Serie A champions aim to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman has been name-checked as one of such potentially smart reinforcements, Footynaija.com reports.

A summer exit from Atalanta is still the most likely outcome for Lookman with recent reports revealing that the reigning African Player of the Year remains keen on taking his talents elsewhere even as La Dea have no intention of obstructing the player’s desire to explore other opportunities.

Lookman’s consistency over the last couple of years in Atalanta’s black and blue stripes makes him an attractive prospect for many top clubs across Europe with Premier League clubs as well as La Dea’s Serie A rivals reportedly keen on securing his services.

One of such interested Serie A clubs is Napoli, who won their second Scudetto in three years last term and Italian football expert Enrico Fedele has urged the Partenopei to make Lookman one of their priorities, insisting the Super Eagles star would offer a different dynamic to Antonio Conte’s front line.

What Enrico Fedele said about Ademola Lookman

“Would Lookman make the leap in quality? Yes, but his contract is not long and yet he has a high price,” Fedele told Radio Marte as per Area Napoli.

“Atalanta must sell him, furthermore he is a player who is getting close to Kvara : various situations could be favorable to his arrival in Campania.

“My experience leads me to say that, rather than the name that can send the fans into raptures, we must focus on quality. We need someone who scores goals and a goalscorer is someone who scores a lot for at least two years, not just one.”

During his time as a La Dea player, Lookman has produced 51 goals and 21 assists in 118 appearances across all competitions. The Nigerian attacker’s record of 36 goals in 74 Serie A matches – with 19 of those being match winners – suggests his potential addition to Conte’s Napoli could be very beneficial for all parties involved.
