Nigeria’s Super Eagles B were left frustrated after a 0-0 stalemate with Zanzibar in a pre-CHAN international friendly at Amaan Stadium, Footynaija.com reports.

Despite dominating possession and dictating the pace, Eric Chelle’s men couldn’t find a way past the well-organised hosts. Before leaving Nigeria, the CHAN Eagles scored goal for fun against league opposition.

Midfield maestro Michael Tochukwu was a standout performer, orchestrating Nigeria’s attacks with composure and precision. The visitors fielded a youthful but energetic XI, with Ani Ozoemena in goal and a solid back four of Sodiq Ismail, Junior Nduka, Leo Ngenge, and Taiwo Abdulrafiu. The midfield trio of Tochukwu, Harrison Uzondu, and Haruna Hadi looked fluid, while Sikiru Alimi and Anthony Ijoma led the line.

Nigeria carved out the better chances, with Ijoma going closest on 65 minutes, forcing a brilliant save with a powerful header. Zanzibar threatened on the counter, but Ozoemena was alert to deny them in the 32nd minute.

Despite increased second-half urgency, poor decision-making in the final third cost Nigeria. The result highlights the team’s need for greater cohesion and a sharper attack ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship.

Both sides will clash again later this week, offering the Super Eagles B a second chance to fine-tune their approach and sharpen their edge.
