Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face a stern test against arch-rivals Ghana in one of two key international friendlies ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, Footynaija.com reports.

Interim head coach Justine Madugu has confirmed the high-profile fixture, which will take place on Moroccan soil just days before the tournament kicks off.

This encounter follows the Falcons’ earlier scheduled clash with Portugal on June 23, with both matches forming part of the team’s final pre-tournament preparations.

We’ve ruled Africa before… now, we’re back for our crown.

The hunt for WAFCON title number is on and the fire is already burning.

The build-up to WAFCON has already seen the nine-time champions notch a 2-0 win over Cameroon in a friendly played in Nigeria. The team will continue their training camp in Portugal before moving to Morocco for the final leg of their preparations.

Drawn in Group B, Nigeria will face Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana in the group stage, beginning their campaign on July 6 at Casablanca’s Stade Mohamed V. The Falcons, last crowned African champions in 2018, are aiming to reclaim their dominance on the continent.

Ghana, meanwhile, are based in Benslimane for their own training camp and have been placed in Group C with South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. Both teams view the friendly as a crucial dress rehearsal for a potentially historic WAFCON run.
