Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare has thrown doubt on rumours linking him with a summer move away from Genk, suggesting he could stay on and push for the Belgian league title next season, Footynaija.com understands.
The 24-year-old striker finished as the top scorer in the 2024/25 Jupiler Pro League, netting 21 goals in 40 appearances. Despite his individual brilliance, Genk narrowly missed out on the title to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Arokodare’s form has reportedly attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, with Genk said to value him at around €20 million.
However, in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg, reported by Voetbalnieuws, Arokodare suggested his immediate future may still lie at the Cegeka Arena.
“The next step? Hopefully win the title,” he said. “I don’t think I’ll leave Genk. There hasn’t been a farewell ceremony for me yet. At the moment, I’m a Genk player and my focus is on that. It’s normal that there is interest after a good season, but the level here is also high. We’ll see.”
The forward remains under contract with Genk until mid-2027, and although his current market value is estimated at €13 million, the Belgian side are expected to hold out for significantly more if serious bids arrive.
