Versatile Super Eagles forward currently on the books of former Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, who made history as the first team to lift the crown without suffering a single defeat, Nathan Tella, has reiterated his commitment to the Bay Arena club, Footynaija.com reports.

Bayer Leverkusen are currently undergoing a period of transition following the departure of Spanish tactician Xabi Alonso and the arrival of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. Key players like Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz have also left the club with more outgoings expected as the summer transfer window carries on.

For Tella though, there’s nowhere else he would rather be. In a recent interview with Flashscore.com, the versatile Nigerian forward, who joined from EFL Championship side Southampton back in 2023, did not mince words in expressing his desire to remain at the Bay Arena.

“I’m still happy to be here (at Bayer Leverkusen). I want to stay there. This is the club they signed me and it’s an honour for them to sign me,” he said.

“When I first heard that they wanted to sign me, I kind of couldn’t believe it because I was playing in the second division and to have a team of that stature to even show interest in me was incredible.

“But the fact that I was able to sign there, have the opportunity to play for them, win trophies there, I still feel like I’ve got more to give. So, I’m really looking forward to my future there.”

Since arriving at Bayer Leverkusen, Tella has amassed 79 appearances across all competitions, notching 10 goals and registering 8 assists. The former Burnley forward was part of that historic Bundesliga and DFB Pokal triumph in the 23/24 season.
