Galatasaray set sights on Brazilian goal machine as Osimhen delays final response

Galatasaray have begun exploring alternative striker options as their pursuit of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen hits a frustrating pause, with Brazilian attacker Richarlison now emerging as the leading candidate, Footynaija.com reports.

The club, fresh off a historic season, had been pushing to secure Osimhen’s permanent signature after his outstanding loan spell in Turkey. The Nigerian striker lit up the Süper Lig with a staggering 37 goals and 8 assists in just 41 appearances across all competitions, becoming a fan favourite and the face of Galatasaray’s recent domestic dominance.

Despite already reaching an agreement with Napoli for a reported €75 million fee, Galatasaray are now beginning to grow frustrated with Osimhen’s lack of response.

With the new season around the corner and planning already underway, club officials believe the situation requires urgent resolution.

According to Turkish media outlet Posta, as cited by PUNCH Sports Extra, the club has presented Osimhen’s entourage with an ultimatum, indicating that they will not wait indefinitely.

Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu admitted that the club is running out of patience. “He’s making us wait, but time is running out,” he said, underlining the seriousness of the delay. Kavukcu added that the club had offered Osimhen a financial package “higher than those proposed in Europe.”

However, the delay from Osimhen’s camp has forced Galatasaray to revisit earlier targets, with Richarlison once again emerging as a strong option.

Galatasaray had initially tried to lure Richarlison from Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal, but this time they are reportedly prepared to negotiate a permanent move. The Brazilian’s name is back on the table, and reports suggest the club is ready to move decisively if Osimhen fails to respond in the coming days.

Tottenham, under new head coach Thomas Frank, are reportedly open to offers for the 28-year-old. While Frank appreciates Richarlison’s energy and pressing style, he remains unimpressed by the striker’s goal return, and Spurs are willing to listen to bids as they restructure their squad. Galatasaray are understood to be monitoring the situation closely.

Meanwhile, as revealed in an earlier report, Osimhen is not short of suitors. Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal have made a significant offer to the Nigerian forward, reportedly worth €40 million annually for four years.

In an effort to keep Osimhen in Istanbul, Galatasaray have responded by improving their initial salary package, now offering €18 million per year plus bonuses. It remains to be seen whether that is enough to convince the Super Eagles striker.
