AC Milan have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare following the striker’s outstanding campaign in Belgium with KRC Genk, Footynaija.com reports.

The 24-year-old scored 23 goals and provided seven assists across 45 competitive appearances in the 2024/2025 season, a tally that earned him the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot and third place among Nigerian top scorers globally.

According to reports from Tuttosport via Football-Italia, Milan are keen to bolster their attacking options under new head coach Massimiliano Allegri and view Arokodare as a promising addition.

The club must, however, make room in the squad and are working to offload Divock Origi, who has been frozen out since a failed loan spell at Nottingham Forest. The Belgian, under contract until 2026 and earning €4m per year, is negotiating a mutual termination.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also monitoring Arokodare, according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils have identified him as a cost-effective option should deals for higher-profile targets like Victor Osimhen, Dusan Vlahovic, or Jonathan David fall through.

The former Amiens striker, who joined Genk for €5m in January 2023, has one goal in four appearances for Nigeria’s Super Eagles. While he previously expressed admiration for Real Madrid, Arokodare has signalled his openness to a move to the Premier League.

United’s forward line struggled last season, with Rasmus Højlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho combining for just 13 league goals — far fewer than Arokodare’s personal tally. With Genk demanding around €23m for their star man, both Milan and United may see him as a bargain.

The striker is currently enjoying a break in Lagos and is expected to return to Belgium for pre-season, unless a transfer materialises soon.
