Nigerian footballers were in action across Europe, Asia, and beyond on Sunday, April 13. Footynaija.com tracked the standout performances, and here are the highlights.

In Serie A, Ademola Lookman extended his goal drought to four league matches, but his Atalanta side still secured a solid 2-0 home win over high-flying Bologna. Lookman’s last goal for the Bergamo outfit came in March during their emphatic 4-0 win at Juventus.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru made his 19th league start of the season for Lazio in the tense Derby della Capitale, which ended 1-1 against Roma.

In Germany’s 3. Liga, Dickson Abiama provided an assist as 1860 München cruised to a 3-0 away win over Waldhof Mannheim.

In Albania’s First Division, Freeman Pius continued his fine form by scoring in his third consecutive game, helping Pogradeci to a convincing 3-0 victory over Kukësi.

In the Belgian Pro League, 18-year-old David Gabriel made his second senior appearance for Antwerp in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Jordan Torunarigha’s Gent.

Meanwhile, Raphael Onyedika and Club Brugge boosted their title hopes with a gritty 1-0 win over leaders Genk. Tolu Arokodare and Yira Sor featured for Genk, who now lead the table by just one point with seven games remaining.

In Bulgaria, Chinonso Offor scored for the fourth straight match, netting in Arda’s dominant 5-0 win over Lokomotiv Sofia 1929. Offor now has eight goals this season — more than any other Nigerian in the league — surpassing Botev’s Ehije Ukaki, who has five.

In Denmark’s 1st Division, Monday Etim scored his ninth goal of the campaign as Hillerød ran out 2-0 winners at HB Køge.

In the Danish Kvindeliga, Joy Omewa stole the spotlight, scoring both goals in Fortuna Hjørring’s 2-0 home win over Køge. The 22-year-old striker has now netted 14 goals in 17 league matches this season — more than double her tally of six from last year.

In Greece, Bruno Onyemaechi celebrated his first league title after Olympiakos clinched the Super League 1 crown with a 1-0 win over AEK Athens.

In Japan’s J3 League, Peter Utaka, at 41 years old, became the oldest Nigerian ever to score in Japanese football history, finding the net in Tochigi City’s superb 5-0 away win at Kochi United.

In the Serbian SuperLiga, Bamidele Yusuf was on target as Vojvodina eased past Mladost Lučani with a 3-1 win.

In the Turkish Super Lig, David Okereke assisted the winning goal as Gaziantep FK came from behind to beat Hatayspor 2-1. Hatayspor featured Funsho Bamgboye and Jonathan Okoronkwo in the encounter.

In Turkey’s 3. Lig, Stanley Ohawuchi netted a brace in Muş Spor’s 4-1 away demolition of Ergene Velimeşespor. The striker has now scored five goals in just eight appearances since joining the club in February.
