Former Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has issued what appeared to be a final piece of advice to his former club regarding the potential signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Foitynaija.com reports.

The prolific Super Eagles marksman has been the subject of numerous transfer speculation this season. His scintillating goal-scoring form at Galatasaray alongside his well established reputation as a lethal finisher has made him a highly sought-after player.

Currently on loan at Galatasaray, the Napoli hitman has been widely tipped to complete a move to the English Premier League this summer, with reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

In recent months, Osimhen’s compatriot and ex-Chelsea midfield general Mikel has openly expressed his desire to see the former Lille man lead the line at Stamford Bridge despite a failed attempt to secure his services last summer.

However, with rival interests gaining more traction and Chelsea’s seeming lack of activity on that front, the former player made what appeared to be one last attempt at convincing those in charge at the Bridge of the need for Osimhen’s arrival.

“His hunger when he plays, the ambition when he plays is something that few players have, the arrogance he has, the feistiness he has that you need to be able to succeed in the Premier League as a top striker,” Mikel explained on the Obi One Podcast.

“For me, I can see a great partnership happening. I’ve said what I have to say, I’ve done my part. If the club chose not to pursue it, fair enough. The player has so many options. Good luck to him, good luck to Chelsea. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.”

With 28 goals in 32 appearances for Galatasaray this season, Osimhen is definitely an attractive option for all top teams in Europe. Whether Chelsea will heed the advice of their former player or chase other striking targets this summer remains uncertain.
