Bright Osayi-Samuel looks set to remain at Fenerbahce beyond the summer, despite previous indications that he could be on his way back to the Premier League, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigeria international, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, was widely expected to depart the Turkish giants after talks over a new deal had initially stalled.

Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers were reportedly monitoring his situation closely with a view to signing him in the summer.

However, fresh reports from Turkey suggest the 27-year-old has made a surprise U-turn and is now prepared to commit his future to Fenerbahce.

As per the Star, discussions over a new contract are believed to have accelerated in recent days, with both parties close to reaching an agreement.

Osayi-Samuel’s decision has reportedly come as a surprise within the club and among fans, many of whom had resigned themselves to losing the versatile full-back this summer.

The former Queens Park Rangers star has been a regular fixture for Fenerbahce this season, making 32 appearances across all competitions and providing two assists. His consistent performances and work rate have made him a valuable asset in the team’s push for domestic honours.

Should the new deal be finalised, it would mark a significant retention for Fenerbahce as they look to strengthen their squad stability ahead of next season.

Osayi-Samuel joined Fenerbahce from QPR in 2021 and has since established himself as a fan favourite with his energetic displays down the flank. His commitment to the Istanbul side appears to have won over club officials once again, potentially bringing an end to speculation about a return to English football — at least for now.

A formal announcement of the new contract is expected soon.
