Nigerian footballers delivered standout performances across Europe on Sunday, with Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze finding the net, while Bruno Onyemaechi and Ibrahim Olawoyin played key roles for their clubs, Footynaija.com reports.

England

Super Falcons star Toni Payne orchestrated Everton’s midfield as they cruised to a 2-0 victory at relegation-threatened Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League.

In the FA Cup, Calvin Bassey powered home his first goal in the competition to give Fulham a half-time lead at Manchester United.

Although Bruno Fernandes equalised late on, Fulham advanced to the quarter-finals after winning on penalties – thanks to goalkeeper Bernd Leno’s heroics.

Spain

Umar Sadiq was the hero for Valencia, netting a brace in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Osasuna – his first-ever La Liga double.

The Super Eagles forward opened the scoring in the first half and produced a sublime flick late on to rescue a vital point for the relegation-threatened side.

Christantus Uche returned to action for Getafe but couldn’t prevent their 1-0 loss at Leganes, while Rinsola Babajide scored to help UD Tenerife secure a 1-1 draw against Levante Badalona in the Primera División Femenina.

Italy

Samuel Chukwueze climbed off the bench to head home his fifth goal of the season as AC Milan suffered a 2-1 defeat to Lazio – denting their European qualification hopes.

In Serie B, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro provided the assist for Sampdoria’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Bari.

France

It was a difficult day for Nigerian stars in Ligue 1, with Gabriel Osho and Moses Simon both tasting defeat. Osho’s Auxerre lost 1-0 to Strasbourg, while Simon’s Nantes fell 2-0 at Marseille.

Albania, Armenia, and Cyprus

Itodo Mandela extended his red-hot form with his 11th league goal of the season in Dinamo City’s emphatic 4-1 win over Tirana – taking his tally to eight goals in his last eight games.

In Armenia, Ibrahim Suleiman, 19, bagged his first professional goal to fire West Armenia to a 1-0 victory against BKMA.

Nigerian defender Godswill Ekpolo also found the net, opening the scoring for AEK Larnaca in their 2-0 win over Omonia 29is Maiou in the Cypriot First Division.

Malta, Moldova, and Greece

Franklin Sasere notched his 11th goal of the campaign from the penalty spot to salvage a 2-2 draw for Floriana against Mosta in the Maltese Premier League.

In Moldova, Rasheed Akanbi scored four goals and Elijah Odede added a brace in Sheriff’s thumping 9-0 victory over CF Barsa Ungheni in the Moldovan Cup.

Meanwhile, Bruno Onyemaechi set up Olympiacos’ stoppage-time winning goal in a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over AEK Athens in the Greek Super League.

Turkey

Victor Osimhen maintained his blistering form with a brace in Galatasaray’s pulsating 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot before restoring Galatasaray’s lead with a close-range finish – taking his tally to 16 league goals this season.

However, Kasımpaşa struck late to deny the league leaders, leaving Galatasaray only four points clear of Fenerbahçe at the top of the Super Lig.

Elsewhere, Ibrahim Olawoyin sealed Rizespor’s 3-1 win over Alanyaspor with a late goal, lifting his side to eighth in the table.
