Olympique Marseille are stepping up their pursuit of Nigerian winger Moses Simon, with manager Roberto De Zerbi keen to bring the FC Nantes star to the Stade Vélodrome this summer, Footynaija.com reports.

According to French outlet Foot-sur7, De Zerbi has identified Simon as a key transfer target, with Marseille leading the race for his signature.

The 29-year-old, who won the Belgian Pro League with Gent in 2015 and the Coupe de France with Nantes in 2022, has been the Canaries’ standout performer this season, registering six goals and seven assists in 22 Ligue 1 matches.

Simon, who has spent five years at Nantes, is expected to leave at the end of the season, with several European clubs—including AS Roma and OGC Nice—monitoring his situation.

However, reports suggest Marseille and Roma are the frontrunners in the battle to secure his services.

The Nigerian international came close to joining Marseille last summer, but a deal failed to materialise.

This time, however, the Ligue 1 giants are prepared to push for the move, with De Zerbi seeing Simon as a versatile attacking asset capable of playing across multiple forward positions.

Nantes owner Waldemar Kita is reportedly looking for a transfer fee in the region of €10 million, a figure well within Marseille’s budget.

Should the move go through, Simon would add depth and pace to De Zerbi’s high-intensity system, potentially becoming a key figure in the club’s attacking setup.

With the summer window approaching, all eyes will be on Marseille to see if they can finally secure a deal for the Super Eagles star.
