Serie A minnows eyeing deal for Barcelona duo – report

Serie A strugglers Como are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of out-of-favour Barcelona duo Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati in the January transfer window, Soccernet.football understands.

Como, a newly-promoted team managed by former Barcelona midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas, currently find themselves languishing dangerously close to relegation waters after 20 games played.

Their record of 4 wins, 7 draws and 9 losses so far, leaves them 16th place on the Serie A standings with 19 points, just a single point above Cagliari who currently occupy one of the relegation spots.

Como’s desperate situation in the Italian top-flight has forced them to seek ample reinforcements for the second half of the season in the winter transfer window and they have now set their sights on the two Barcelona outcasts.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Como are interested in signing Garcia and Fati this January, with the Italian club hoping to use their lack of playing time in Catalonia to convince the duo about making the switch.

However, a deal is still miles away from happening as both players have been the subject of interest from more attractive suitors. Garcia is being courted by Real Sociedad and Girona while Fati has interests from Sevilla and Real Betis.

With Barcelona reportedly looking to free up space in order to facilitate a move for Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford, the Supercopa de Espana champions should be open to letting both players leave.

Nevertheless, Como still have a mountain to climb if they are to successfully lure both Garcia and Fati away from the attractive prospect of La Liga and potentially European football.
