Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town have entered discussions with Sevilla over a potential loan deal for Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho, Soccernet.football understands.

The Nigerian striker, who joined Sevilla in the summer of 2024, has struggled to adapt to life in La Liga, raising questions about his long-term future at the club.

Iheanacho, 28, has managed just three goals in 11 appearances across all competitions this season, a return far below expectations for the Andalusian outfit. This underwhelming performance has reportedly led Sevilla to consider offloading the forward during the January transfer window.

Sources suggest Sevilla has approved a loan departure for the Nigerian international, paving the way for Wolves and Ipswich to explore bringing him back to the Premier League. Both clubs are said to be keen on adding attacking reinforcements as they aim to strengthen their respective campaigns, according to reports from Football Insider.

However, Wolves and Ipswich are not alone in their pursuit. Reports indicate interest in Iheanacho from other Premier League sides and teams across Europe’s elite leagues.

Iheanacho is no stranger to the English top flight, having previously represented Manchester City and Leicester City with distinction.

During his time in England, he racked up an impressive 82 goals in 296 appearances, winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

For Iheanacho, a return to the Premier League could be an opportunity to rediscover the form that made him one of Africa’s most exciting forwards. The league’s familiar intensity and pace could provide the perfect platform for him to rebuild his confidence after a challenging spell in Spain.

Wolves, battling to climb up the Premier League standings, and Ipswich, seeking to maintain momentum in their top-flight return, both appear to see Iheanacho as a valuable addition to their attacking options.

Whether they can finalise a deal amidst growing competition remains to be seen as the January window approaches.
