Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives, Enyimba International, have touched down in Egypt ahead of their decisive Group D encounter with Zamalek, Soccernet.football reports.

The People’s Elephant departed Nigeria on Thursday via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, arriving in Cairo on Friday morning.

They are set to face group leaders Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday in a match that could determine their fate in the competition.

Enyimba currently sit third in Group D with five points from five matches. To qualify for the quarterfinals, they must secure an away victory against Zamalek while hoping second-placed Al Masry, who have six points, fail to beat Mozambique’s Black Bulls.

Brown Ideye, who scored on his CAF Confederation Cup debut against Black Bulls in Uyo, remains optimistic about Enyimba’s chances despite the daunting task.

“It’s a must-win match for us,” Ideye said. “Zamalek are a good side, but we will go all out there to get the maximum points. They have already qualified for the next round of the competition and so may rest their top players. The chairman (Nwankwo Kanu) has spoken to us, and I believe it’s still possible to win this match.”

Enyimba’s last encounter with Zamalek ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw in Aba, with both sides showing their attacking brilliance. However, Zamalek, already through to the quarterfinals, may rotate their squad, a factor the Nigerian side hopes to exploit.

Led by coach Stanley Eguma, Enyimba will be relying on their experience and determination to deliver a performance that keeps their continental ambitions alive.

Zamalek top the group standings, followed by Al Masry in second. Black Bulls of Mozambique are bottom with four points, meaning the final round of fixtures will be crucial in determining who progresses alongside the Egyptian giants.
