Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka was forced to leave the pitch during the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League clash with Greece after picking up a knock to his right leg, Soccernet.football reports.

England suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday evening, recording their first ever defeat to Greece on the international stage.

Lee Carsley’s side were second best for most of the fixture in truth, with Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis netting a brace to earn Greece a famous win.

While the stunning defeat was a point of concern for England, Arsenal fans will be more interested in the state of their star winger Saka, who had to go off early in the second half after feeling some sort of discomfort in his leg.

The 23-year-old winger was seen limping and stretching before falling to the turf, with interim boss Lee Carsley having to replace the Arsenal man with Chelsea’s Noni Madueke soon after.

Speaking after the defeat, Carsley admitted that the player was being assessed before any decision would be made on the state of his injury.

“He’s being assessed,” he told reporters. “Obviously in the build-up to the first goal, you can see he felt something in his leg.”

The Gunners are already without captain Martin Odegaard, who has been sidelined following an ankle injury he picked up on international duty with Norway back in September.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping Saka’s problem is nothing really serious and that his talisman will be ready for action when they travel to the Vitality Stadium for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on October 19.

Meanwhile, the Three Lions will be back in UEFA Nations League action on Sunday, October 13 when they take Finland at the Helsingin Olympiastadion, Helsinki.
